In another foray into world music, John features several artists who cross the musical boundaries between cultures. Featuring Dutch flutist Walter van Hauwe playing a Japanese folk song on the European flute, American composer John Hassell's Brazil-inspired work for the Kronos Quartet, and several pieces by Australian composer Michael Atherton that incorporate, among other instruments, the Arabic oud, a flute from the Soloman islands, and a hurdy-gurdy.
