From card catalog: American Jewish Committee Award dinner honoring Robert Wishnik, civic leader and industrialist. Speakers: Mayor-elect John V. Lindsay, Sen. Jacob Javits, R. Wishnick. Topics: RW; work of AJC; anti-semitism in Soviet Union; work of AJC and the Arab boycott.
Leydesdorff begins by celebrating the work of Senator Javits (whom he calls "Jack"), then presents him with a scroll. Javits thanks the AJC and Leydesdorff, talks about Wishnick, a planned Food Aid program for Egyptians, acts against Jews in the Soviet Union, "Judaism without Embellishment," role of the Jewish people in the battle for Civil Rights.
Host introduces Gus Levy, President of Mount Sinai Hospital, who introduces the Mayor Lindsay, who talks about the work of the AJC and Wishnik.
Host introduces Max Fisher compliments Wishnik and presents him with an award. Wishnik talks about the Arab boycott and how it inspired him to become involved to create a study group.
