National Association of Practical Nursing
Mrs. Roosevelt acts as representative of the consumers of nursing services. Listeners would be interested in what she sees as the importance of the practical nurse training program and whether this would help fill the critical need for nurses and assist in civilian defense. Need for nurses in homes for chronic disease and childcare. Remembers a former maid who took a course in nursing and remained working in a hospital afterward, stumbles over the proper way to describe her ("friend," "colored," and "maid" all come up).
Ends somewhat abruptly, with voices trailing off and Mrs. Roosevelt asking if "that's what you wanted?"
