Recording of air show and speeches in honor of Mayor O'Dwyer, as part of New York City's Golden Jubilee and the opening of Idlewild Airport.
Contains patched-in audio from Herald Tribune plane, where John Savage, co-pilot and WNYC reporter, talks with the audience from the cockpit and acts as Master of Ceremonies. Program Director George Wallace is also in the plane and speaks to the audience through patched-in audio.
Sanitation Band and Glee Club play "Alexander's Ragtime Band."
Commander Frank Hopkins of the Royal Navy talks about the air show the audience will see in the afternoon.
Ceremonies for honoring Mayor O'Dwyer begin at 00:20:00. Includes a group performance of the National Anthem.
