Glenn Lowry
Sunday, October 02, 2005
As a child studying the recorder, MOMA’s Director Glenn Lowry discovered he had no musical talent and as a listener he came to opera late. His favorite character is Don Giovanni: “A rogue by any standard, but a deeply interesting rogue.” His preferred singers? Bryn Terfel, Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming and Ben Heppner. But he doesn’t like romantic music (Debussy and Ravel). Loves artists like pianist Glenn Gould, who took great interpretive risks in his performance of Brahms First Piano Concerto. Hopes to soon turn MOMA into an important music venue.
