Thank you for having Whit Stillman on! He's one of my favorite contemporary directors, along with Agnes Jaoui of France. (They both make films about people who think, which seems rare.) Barcelona is one of the films I recommend most often.

Thank you for having Whit Stillman on! I just re-watched Metropolitan the other night, and it had me thinking about more recent depictions of Upper East Side teenagers (Gossip Girl, New York Prep). I'd love to know what Mr. Stillman makes of these, and what he thinks a 2009 version of Metropolitan would look like?

Great Guest. Wasn't he going to make a Jane Austen Movie?

Anna O, all your questions of how Mr. Stillman feels about Gossip Girl can be answered over at Gothamist:

    Some good stuff in there.
