Tuesday, August 25, 2009

According to the Obama administration, in the last six years, at least one in 10 deaths in immigration detention have been overlooked and have gone unreported by officials. New York Times immigration reporter Nina Bernstein will be joined by Amy Fettig, staff attorney with the ACLU Prison Project, to discuss why immigrant detainee deaths are occurring and why they have been omitted from official reports.

We throw just about every criminal into the same system in this country. A lot of these people go in illiterate, no job skills, no job ethics and many are addicted to drugs. Most come out of the system the same way and only learn how to be better criminals. Shouldn’t this population deserve more then the detainees?
