Leonard, you're usually so on target, and of course, it may be a matter of opinion, but please, leave your personal prejudices out. German has a natural iambic rhythm, and Russian is a glorious language to sing in. Without slighting the French, how many acknowledged masterpieces of opera are French, as opposed to German? Maybe if you spoke some of these languages you would know better. What you said is such a stereotype, which has arisen out of ignorance!
