Why not interview a priest who isn't an ex-priest?

it is always humorous and sad to hear a reasonable thoughtful person tie themselves in knots over all this superstitious cultural baggage.

sir....come with us into the modern age...you are MORE than welcome here...leave the witch doctors, flat earth society members, child molesters (and their protectors) and bigots behind if they will not listen to reason.

You suggest that we be "civil" when we comment. I do not think that calling a person's religion "superstitious" is very civil. After all, we live in a country that professes to believe in freedom of religion. I, like James Carroll, am a catholic who has many disagreements with the church. There are lots of us. I thought his comments were very interesting. I plan to read the book to which he referred on today's show. Thanks for having him on the program.

This man expresses the views of the small, radical, aged, discontented group of Catholics called Voice of the Faithful. He made many historical, theological, and doctrinal errors during the interview. He is urging people to not be obedient to the Holy Father or to the Church, so he is dangerous and is doing damage to people's faith, and misrepresenting it to non-Catholics.
