This is great. And how about a segment with the CURRENT US Poet Laureate, Kay Ryan. Her work is superb!

my granddaughters school last week had poetry night and EVERY student in grades 1-8 read out loud a poem they'd written.

it was wonderful, with poems from musing about snowfalls (grade 1) to rants about the lousy economy (grade 8). And my granddaughter particularly liked the poem called "the fat cat" with a reference to "the fat mouse."

Thought you'd be interested in a film I saw/heard last night at the Film Anthology in NYC called "Divide Light." It is a filmed opera based on the poems of Emily Dickinson. It is fabulous; as you say, poems are meant to be spoken -- or in this case, sung.
