Hi! I think your guest wants to refer to 'civil LIBERTY' and not 'civil LIBERTARIAN', don't you? Or is there something he might want to clarify for us listeners?

I think President Obama is consistent with the ideas he put forth in his writings prior to running for President. I am not surprised with his centrist policies. I am surprised that so many people did not seem to really know his views. President Obama is what we need at this time in history.
follow-up... the executive war powers problem is that this war on terrorism is its
open-endedness... which goes to: if we want to restore governmental balance of power, why not move away from war footing to an international crime?

I agree with you at least the first part. Anyone paying close attention to Obama's legislative history and policy statements should not be surprised. I think a lot of people saw what they wanted to see in him and now are having buyer's remorse. So.... pay better attention next time. As far as being what we need now...jury's still out. I am cautiously optimistic.
