My understanding is that Darwin was pathologically shy, so he dreaded the prospect of having to publicly defend his theory. Theodore Huxley provided much of the public case for Origin of Species. (And Huxley was nicknamed "Darwin's bulldog".)
I was wondering how much Lincoln & Darwin knew of each other's existence & what they might have thought of each other. Is there any record of Lincoln's opinion on evolution or Darwin's opinion of Lincoln's emancipation of American slaves & conduct of the Civil War?
Wait, the segment's over already? I didn't think it would be only 15 minutes! Don't Darwin & Lincoln deserve more? Oh, well.
