    Morning After

Now that Obama is President-Elect -- how did we get to this point, and what's next? Ana Marie Cox of Swampland talks about last night's outcome, and we'll also check in with some surprising results from swing states. Then, a look back at some of the funniest, most outrageous moments of the long election season. Plus: a look at the Giorgio Morandi exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum.

Check out our new Thanksgiving Recipe Swap! We want your favorite side dish recipes. The deadline is Nov. 6, so submit ASAP!

The Morning After

Time magazine's Swampland contributor Ana Marie Cox helps us dissect last night’s results and the morning after.

Also: we talk to journalists who participated in our States of the Union series to talk about down-ticket races and why some states did or didn’t turn out the way they were supposed to. Adam C. Smith is political editor for the St. Petersburg Times in Florida; Jo Mannies is regional political correspondent for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in Missouri. Lynn Bartels is political and legislative reporter for Colorado's Rocky Mountain News. Dan Walters is political columnist for the Sacramento Bee.

A Better Angel

Many of the stories in Chris Adrian’s new collection, A Better Angel, revolve around the themes of childhood and sickness. His previous novel, Children’s Hospital, got great reviews.

Morandi at the Met

Italian artist Giorgio Morandi was born in Bologna in 1890 and hardly ever left his hometown throughout his life. A new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum, "Giorgio Morandi, 1890-1964," features works he created for his close friends and most discerning collectors. Renato Miracco is guest curator and director of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

Monona Rossol on 50 Million Chemicals

The Leonard Lopate Show

On September 7, 2009, scientists working for the Chemical Abstract Service (which assigns identification numbers to all new chemicals) entered the 50-millionth chemical substance into their Registry. Chemist and industrial hygienist Monona Rossol, President and Founder of Arts, Crafts & Theater Safety, took a look at what all these new substances are, where they are coming from, and how they affect our health. Rossol also responded to listener comments and questions. You can read her answers here.
