As a lieutenant in the FDNY and former President of the Departments GLBT organization Fireflag. I find it disappointing that when discussing such an incredible man who touched so many members of the department you are sexist enough to continue to use the term fireman instead of firefighter.

i think it might be better to say that he was the first person from the fire department to die in the attacks rather than he was the first to die...

You magically crammed so much into this short interview, wasting no time, and it was obvious the book had been read and thought about---nice job, thanks

To *the truth* above: Fr. Mychal was indeed Gay but celibate. His order and family acknowledge it, and Mychal says so in his own words in Daly's book. But you're right he was so much more than a "Gay Priest". Mychal Judge was a living Saint.

So many wonderful points made in such a short interview! Great job.

I especially enjoyed hearing Author Daly speak about this personal reflections about his friend. The point he made about Fr.Judge believing that "heaven or hell was NOT an up and down thing" was truly a thought that we should all take notice of and follow.

If we all acted like this wonderful man and GIVE to others we could make the world a better place.

God Bless his memory and the FDNY.

    Peace

    Paul

RE: Mr. Daly's comment that canonizing Mychal Judge to Sainthood would be a "demotion" for him.

This is true if it's the Vatican and people like O'Connor and Law doing the canonizing. But for the first 14 centuries, Saints were declared by acclamation of the faithful, and that's what's happened here.

Mychal is indeed a Saint by the grace of God and by widespread acclamation. Not a plaster saint either, but a real living saint through whom there have been medically documented, miraculous healings.

    Father Mike, pray for us.
