  Markos is in fact something of a genius. He is identified with a technological movement, but the truth is he has a clear, true voice and real insight into politics and government.

  Technology may have given Markos a platform, but his impact on shaping the debate is far more profound and lasting. (The technology would have happened with or without him.)

  Amity Shlaes from the previous hour has nothing more than an undergraduate degree (granted from a prestigious diploma mill as opposed to an unknown one).

  Thomas Friedman, et al have very real biases too. (So too, Judith Miller, Michael Gordon, John Burns, Wolf Blitzer ... take your pick). So let's drop the pretense.

  If bloggers and amateurs were so poor, we wouldn't be breaking stuff that the Bill Keller and others are too timid, too slavish or just too stupid to go with.

  With regard to record labels, online distribution, etc.

  You're onto the key reason Time Warner, Verizon, Sony, etc., are so dead set _against _ net neutrality.

  Once net neutrality is killed by Congress, the end run We the People can do around institutions is shut down.

  Mr. Moulitas you brag about the Palin story by implying that She pretended to be pregnant and that the downs syndrome baby was her daughters. An outright lie. And, who was this "reporter"? Why don't we know who she is?

  I guess Mr. Moulitas does not go to an MD. when he is sick. I will assume he will make his own medicine to cure himself.

  I'll assume that he does not use someone with an accounting degree or a finance degree to manage his books. And, that he files his own business taxes.

  I will also assume he will represent himself if he gets in trouble with law (eventhough he has a JD).

  There is a problem here that concerns me. It seems that no one feels that expertise is important anymore. This leads to people who develop a superficial knowledge on topics.

  No Doubt Marcos is a brilliant man, yet the Palin piece is a very big discredit to the Daily Kos since it was just plain a poorly researched hack job, the author a mystery wacko clone set on smearing link bait incendiary BS into the conversation which did more damage than any intended good. More and more sites like the Daily Kos are populated with wanna be writers, poor researcher, who are set on being published not REALLY contributing REAL substance. We need a Smoking Gun expose on how the Palin piece ended up in the mainstream yet was a farcical vendetta aapparently , which btw along with all the many comments is NO LONGER ON the Daily Kos site.

  I am more than slightly dismayed that Mr. 'Kos gets to state that his website had anything to do with any expose of Sarah Palin's daughter's pregnancy. It didn't. I wish Mr. Lopate had called him on this.

  An anonymous diarist on the site claimed that Mrs. Palin's pregnancy was faked and that her baby was actually Bristol's. This was an ad hominem smear, nothing more, and the Daily Kos implicitly encourages this hate mongering. No retraction was printed; no hateful comments are ever moderated, and no opinion that does not goose step with ultra liberal ideology can be posted without spiteful retribution.

  Kos is the poster child for why civil debate is now an oxymoron in this country.
