Humanitarian military intervention is not a new idea; Princeton international affairs professor Gary Bass says that it dates back to Victorian times when the British naval victory at Navarino against Turkish troops assured Greek independence. Professor Bass’s new book is Freedom’s Battle: The Origins of Humanitarian Intervention.

Great show, didn't know about the massacre of Bulgarians.

I just wanted to be certain that I heard Gary Bass correctly when he equated the yellow journalism leading up to the Spanish American War with that practiced by today's Fox News, and then compared it unfavorably with the unbiased news coverage practiced by the New York Times. That is what I heard, isn't it? I thought so. Hmmm.....
