I love Tim McCarver. He is a great analyst and my enjoyment of games over the years has been greatly enhanced by Tim's style and commentary.

Tim, don't listen to the haters. Fox News may be an atrocity (i.e. arm of the Republican Party and not a news channel at all) but Fox Sports has it going on.

Is any effort being made to improve the disction of Spanish sepaking players? Ditto from Japanese sepakers. No English spoken here. Yet they make lots of money - can easily afford labguage tutors

Richard--that's xenophobic...it's a global game...they're here to play ball, not to be PR tools for the owners. Kosuke and Dice-K and Ichiro can speak whatever language they want, they speak baseball and that's all I care about.

Tim McCarver has to be the worst announcer in the history of baseball. He is a horrible analyst and my enjoyment of games over the years has been greatly reduced by Mr. McCarver and his inane ramblings. Him, in combination with Fox's awful telecasts mean watching baseball on the radio is the best option.

The man has generated several anti-McCarver websites and is almost universally loathed. Please just keep your mouth shut Tim. You weren't much of a player and you are even worse behind the mic!

  • [5] Paulie from Home August 01, 2008 - 04:44PM

First, I only heard the first part of this interview on the air. Where's the audio?

Second, to Toby: I like McCarver, in spite of the fact that he can belabor a point, so there goes your theory of being universaly loathed. Yes, there are anti-McCarver web sites. What does thatr prove? There are anti-Rachel Ray web sits. There are also websites denying the Holocaust and the moon landing. Any nut can start a web site, so, sir, what is your point?

  • [6] Joe Adams from Bergen County, New Jersey August 01, 2008 - 05:53PM

It's 5:52 PM and so far this segment is unavailable on either podcast or on demand. I hope I won't have to wait until Monday before I can hear what Tim had to say.

  • [7] Ron Kaplan from Whippany, NJ August 01, 2008 - 06:11PM

Is there any reason this segment is not up on the Website, as are the others from today's program?

    The Lopate Show responds:

We are working to have the audio from this interview available. We hope to have the problem solved quickly.
