In 1974, French high wire artist Philippe Petit snuck to the top of the World Trade Center and crossed a wire between the two World Trade Center towers. It’s been called the greatest high wire walk in history. He’s the subject of a new documentary, "Man on Wire," by James Marsh. It opens today, Friday 7/25, at the Landmark Sunshine and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas.

    I read Mr. Petit's book on "the walk" a year or so after 9/11, and I was moved beyond words. While I don't condone breaking the law (and presumably Petit broke many in his pursuit), I have saved this book for my daughters to read. I hope it will inspire them to work diligently to bring joy into the the lives of others. Now if only I can get a babysitter so I can see the documentary! Thank you Mr. Petit. You made me laugh and cry.

    Leonard, Leonard, Leonard. What possessed you to ask Mr. Marsh whether he had trouble as a person (rube?????) from Cornwall handling the fast pace of New York?? How condescending can you get? What a pompous and silly question!
