    Thank you for the story of Niagara Falls, I enjoyed it very much. I share the author's fascination with the history of the Falls. I grew up in Niagara County and visited the Falls many. many times--I remember seeing the American Falls when they were "turned off".

    It is unfortunate that the area around the Falls park is so run down, because the park is so beautiful. One of my favorite areas of the Falls is the park that is above the Whirlpool and The Devil's Hole. It is thrilling to hike down to river level below the Whirlpool and see the power of the river from that perspective. I read recently that the city of Niagara Falls is considering closing more of the parkway that Robert Moses built. I hope that they will and I hope that the city will focus their attention on the beautiful parks, both Goat Island and the section of the park below the Falls.
