The Early Life of Genghis Khan

Acclaimed Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov’s Academy Award-winning film, "Mongol," is based on the early life of Genghis Khan. It opens June 6 at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.

    i wonder after 100's of years of mongol rule should russians consider themselves european or asians?

    But of course, tyrants and dictators are people too!

    I'd say twenty, maybe fifty years from now, there will be films on Hitler or Stalin portraying them in a much more sympathetic light. I heard Goebbels was a very cute little tyke.

    Lenny Bruce predicted all this back in the 60s. It's taken a little longer but just wait.

    Hell, a romantic picture about George W.?; anything is likely!

    A masterful film, with thanks to the director. Grouping Chinggis Khan with 20th Century dictators is inaaproriate in terms of time and impact. Read Jack Weatherford's masterful CK and the Making of the Modern World to see the extent of Mongolian contribution in diplomacy and other areas and the October 2007 Brookings Institution cover piece Mongoia Matters by a New York-based author for the best written take on Mongolia's current contributions and potential roles.
