Phil Donahue’s New Film, “Body of War”

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

Now that he’s not hosting a talk show, Phil Donahue has directed "Body of War," a documentary about the life of Tomas Young, a young veteran who became paralyzed after less than a week in Iraq. Ellen Spiro is the film’s co-director and cinematographer. It opens Wednesday, April 9 at the IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue).

Thank you all for doing this. Hopefully, it will be seen by many (even though it seems from current film stats, Americans are not yet

able to or wanting to see war movies about Iraq.) Don't forget to say where the movie is showing.

Personal: Ms. Spiro, if you need any interns

-hardworking and good eye-- can you contact me?

    Sincerely,

    Vivienne

    has congress YET declared war??

On this NON-Declaration of War - Bush has claimed the power to torture, kidnap, surveil, undermine habeas corpus ALL on the basis of War Powers and yet there has been no declaration of War... I know this is off the topic, but I think this is a HUGE issue

I'm sorry to all who were killed or injured in the Iraq invasion for not doing more to stop it from happening.

    I feel responsible.

When will Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush, Yoo and Wolfowitz be tried for war crimes?

Great show!! I hope to catch the movie. Who needs Eddie Vetter when you have someone who can speaks the truth like Young. I hope he runs for congress so I can move to his discrict and vote for him. Lets face it. Most people in congress thought Iraq would be a cakewalk and they wanted to be on the "winning side". Almost no one who voted for it paid any price for their vote even in the 2004 election. Just look at Joe Lieberman. He was re-elected as an independant in 2006. "Yes" voting Kerry was even nominated by the Democrats as their presidential candidate. By the way: The US voters already gave the Iraqis a timetable when they voted in a Democratic majority in 2006. The 3 major groups are socking away wepons in anticipation of US departure. When we leave here will be a Lebenonesque civil war (we had a much worse one also) during which Al Qaida will be liquidated in Iraq by the Iraqis who will have no more use for them.
