Make sure you do a show on the Korean founder of 'Dahn Yoga' which isn't really Yoga and is definitely as much of a cult as the Unification church.. Moon owns a ton of real estate in Irvington, NY

Moon was an instrument and probably still is a tool of ultra conservative Korean politicians and (at that time's ) attempts to control US politics and maintain that particular power base in Korea's influence on The USA. A lot of this influence came to light during the Koreagate scandal in the 80's.

As such this political hidden power is a direct result of US intervention in Korean political politics in the 50's.

The "moonies" often attempted to recruit me in the 70's at Columbia U, my studies in Korean history right befor the Korean war led me to believe in this interpetation.

One other point to make is to notice that this politics focuses on the USA and Japan both being nations that exercised political and economic power over Korea in the past 100 years. As such this is an attempt by powers in Korea to maintain influence over these two nations

Dahn Yoga - please look into this, very manipulative and are taking advantage of people by telling them to give them their money. The pretense is to go to Arizona to learen how to be a healer. I got so freaked out I stopped going after 1 time and had to wait weeks to get a refund

As a proud Alumni of University of Bridgeport (class of 92), please make the correction that the Moonies thankfully no longer own University of Bridgeport (thank god).

What will be interesting to see in the coming years is the shift that the moonies will make to accomodate themselves to the fact of Chinese communist power in Asia. Just as Ultra Right politicians in Singapore are currently becoming more and more a mouthpiece for Beijing, just as Orwell predicted in Animal Farm ... look to see the Moon faction align themselves with the Comunist part of China once the North korean issues are resolved.

Why aren't the democrats going after republicans over this? Or at least taking out the Times by publicizing the link with Moon?

Is this a new Mason movement? I think so . The excellance of bringing these point s to the front is that this is a delibertate attempt to create a political cult with religious ferver that wil l attempt to undermine liberal values in favour of a small but deceptively powerful northeast asian nation's political intrests.

Whoever said the moonies no longer own the University of Bridgeport is wrong. It is still theirs - Moon said years ago they must control universities to gain influence in America and so they could license professional people. I can’t think of a moonie leader who does not now carry a title of "Dr.". His wife demands she be called “Dr.” even though it is just some title given her by Moon's fronts.

He actually is not a "Rev" as he is self ordained. The Presbyterians kicked him out long ago.

Gorenfeld’s site is down now - it has had problems recently - but you can see the video he produced here:

very interesting and well done vid as he takes you on tour of the places he writes about in the book.

If you call yourselves a public radio station (NYPR)? In the future use the same format (No live opposition and Guest/Host only views) for other organizations or religions.

I believe being PUBLIC is to show all points of view.

The way NYPR presented the radio show; you gave the impression that Rev. Sun Moon was not a human being.

NYPR, get your act in the right track and do not forget the word PUBLIC.

I hate to disillusion Jon P., but the Moon apparatus is very much in control at the University of Bridgeport, where I used to teach before the Moon takeover. Neil Salonen, a long-time Unificationist and close associate of Rev. Moon, is the president. Moreover, the Bridgeport International Academy, (formerly the New Eden Academy), a prep school on the UB campus operated by long-time "Moonie" couple, the Spurgins, is the feeder sohool to the university. Many of the techers and lecturers at both institutions are also Moon adherents. I called the academy this morning and asked if the school taught the Rev. Moon's theology and the receptionist said, "Yes".

This story astounded me. Why is the fact that Moon exercises such influence on the right wing not on the front page of every newspaper and the lead story of every newscast? Furthermore how do right wing Christian politicians square their taking money from someone who admittedly is undermining their traditional Christian beliefs and the beliefs of their constituency? It seems they would be run out of office if they knew this!

Why is no one raising the question: who paid for the ceremony in the Dirkson Building? If it was free perhaps that would be a great venue for weddings, bar mitzvahs etc. for the economically challenged.

As a professor at UB for over 2 years now I must say I am amazed at the outdated misinformation and dysinformation posted on this site. Rev Moon and his organization have never owned UB. They made financial contributions through the lean times during the 80s and 90s, but haven't put up a dime in a number of years. While there may be members of his church in admin, faculty and staff, there are many more from other religions, and no one here really cares. They have a few seats on the Board of Trustees but have no voting block...our acrediting agencies see to that!

With regard to CG's comment, I would ask, how is it that Moon followers are members of the UB admin and/or staff if the Moon organization does not own or control it? Isn't Neil Salonen the President? He is the former President of the Unification Church.

The notion that the Moon organization is not funding it is absurd, unless you think that UB is self sufficient. Just because the money comes through a Moon front organization, such as Professors World Peace Academy or the like, does not diminsh the fact that the money comes from Moon. And where does Moon get his money? Mostly from the backs of suffering Japanese UC members who are forced to work long hours for little pay, or from little old Japanese ladies who are told that if they give up their life savings to Moon then their ancestors will be more happy in the spirit world.

Here, let me leave you with an actual Moon quote: "All the irrelevant books in the world should be burned away. I cannot tolerate books that belong under the leftist ideology. Do you understand?" SMM 3/27/07

Yes, Master. :-)
