I visited Chile in 2006 (starting in Santiago and travelling around Cape Horn to Argentina) -- a lovely and interesting country with a vast range of scenery and climate. The people are gracious and charming but I was told it has a whole population afflicted with PTSD. (No doubt it is the same in Argentina.)

The south of Chile has many towns/small cities with predominantly Croation populations.

My college Spanish professor was Chilean and because he was so wonderful, I've always been fond of the entire country. ;-)

It is great to see a compatriot doing well and continuing the work of such great chilean writers like Neruda and Gabriela Amistral. Keep up the good work. Viva Chile

Wonderful interview. Informative and insightful on many levels. Antonio has a charm of a child and a wisdom of a talented man. Naivete doesn't exclude intelligence. He has both. Great questions and elegant side comments from Mr. Lopate. Croatians all over the world are very proud of Antonio Skarmeta's success in life.
