Pre-war 9 story apt bldg. Upper Westside.
Problem: where steam risers pass thru conc. slab above, pieces of the concrete pop off during heating cycle, leaving enlarged openings. Metal collars don't prevent problem.
Question: can you recommend a product that will seal the openings and withstand the high heat of the risers?
Prewar 12-story apt. bldg.
I live on the 10th floor, and often when I use the bathroom tap in the sink, hot water comes out of the cold water faucet. The super has been unable to find the source of the problem. This has not always been a problem--just in the last year or two. What do you think is the cause? Thanks.
A contractor left leaving some grout drying on a newly tiled bathroom floor. IT was a while before we discovered it and it had dried.
What is the best way to remove the hardened grout from the tile suface without damaging the tiles?
Thanks
Aren't bay leaves a good bug repellent?
Water is flooding the basement at different locations.
Is there any device to find the source of the water?
Pre-War Building, TERRIBLE insulation.

Thank you!
To Libby-
If you have a mixing shower valve, you may want to have that checked. We once had the same problem and the cartridge in the valve was bad. Also could be a bad valve above or below you on your line.
