Enjoyed listening to Mort Zachter.
As my therapist said: "You earned your inheritance." It was very re-affirming to hear someone with a similar experience.
My parents moved from California to Florida late in life. Neighbors called Adult Protective Services several times because they were concerned about my parents' poor living conditions. I knew they could afford to live much better, but had no idea what my father had actually accumulated. Not $3M. but much more than I anticipated. Still cannot bring myself to go out and buy that Mercedes.
I really enjoyed the segment.
What a fascinating show and topic.
I think the bias with money is to assume that most people have problems with spending and debting.
Mr. Zachter's story shows us an entirely different side...saving and hoarding.
This "miser" complex is well worth looking at and I wonder if there are other stories out there of a similar nature.
