    The Plame Game

Leonard has spoken with Joseph Wilson, Robert Novak, and Matthew Cooper about "Plamegate." We hear from the woman at the very center of the scandal: Valerie Plame Wilson. She'll tell her side of the story. Then, a new biography of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz depicts him as a deeply unhappy man. Also, a deaf American recounts his experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Zambia. Plus, what one foreign correspondent learned during his 30 months on the ground in the West Bank.

Valerie Plame Wilson Talks

Valerie Plame Wilson’s cover as a top CIA agent was blown in 2003 when Bush administration officials leaked her name to the media. Since then, she’s been at the center of "Plamegate," which has engulfed Washington and led to the conviction of Vice Presidential aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby. In Fair Game, she reveals her side of the story for the first time.

Foreign correspondent Philip Winslow spent 30 months in the West Bank with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). While there, he observed the routine violence, humiliation, and victimization faced by both Palestinians and Israelis. In Victory for Us Is to See You Suffer, Mr. Winslow attempts to show that when it comes to this intractable conflict, the people on the ground are the ones that suffer most.

Together, they wrapped the Reichstag in Berlin, the Pont-Neuf in Paris, and created The Gates, with billowy orange drapes, in Central Park. Jeanne-Claude just died at the age of 74. You can hear Leonard Lopate’s last interview with them both, from July 19, 1999.

Please Explain: Eco-Labels

The Leonard Lopate Show

Your broccoli, shampoo, and air conditioner might bear labels declaring them to be organic, cruelty-free, or energy efficient, but what do those labels mean and are they true? Dr. Urvashi Rangan, Project Director for Consumer Reports' GreenerChoices.org and Consumers Union’s Senior Scientist for Policy Initiatives, and Dara O'Rourke, founder and CEO of GoodGuide.com, took a look at what eco-labels indicate, how standards are set, and what they mean for consumers and manufacturers around the world.
