    To some extent, the developments in Islamic finance represent compromise between Muslims and the Western capitalist system. How many typical Muslims of the Mideast know about Islamic finance, and do they think highly of it?

    Although the ascendant hardline Muslims may be intolerant and violent, perhaps less Muslims would feel alienated from the West if the Bush administration, American multinationals and other Western conglomerates that push "free market" ideology at any cost to developing nations would own up to committing humanitarian atrocities for the past fifty years, more understanding would be possible.
