The Bush Administration's handling of the war in Iraq has been called into question right from the start. Filmmaker Charles Ferguson sought answers inside the White House, the Pentagon, and Baghdad’s Green Zone, interviewing retired Colonel Paul Hughes and other high-ranking officials to find out exactly how an initial military victory devolved into the chaos and violence we see today. The result is his Sundance Prize-winning documentary No End in Sight.

Everything went wrong in Iraq because there was no planning. Remember Rummy was intent on being out in 30 days, except for a rump force. In retrospect, and full or irony, that might have been the one thing that would have worked.
I knew the U.S. lost the war in Iraq the day the looting began.
These people who are speaking out after the fact make me sick. They are just trying to salvage their sorry reputations after having been responsible for one of the worst U.S. disassters ever. (And I would mention the Iraqis, but everyone knows no one in this country cares about them.)
No one should ever invite those people to speak to anyone anymore. They are a disgrace and deserve to be on trial at the Hague.
Ignorant leadership, generals who can't speak out (good soldiers just know the marching orders?) on the folly, a people (or peoples), or region, that is not quite ready for democracy. So Mr. W. tried to stuff it down their throat, ignorant himself of there being Shites and Sunnis, etc. who don't want to gel. Ah, being sold on a World Bank president's hawkishness........ keeping it brief.
Perhaps those in Washington responsible for Iraq chose not to follow the "best decision making process" because they were guided by the idealogy that "the US doesn't do nation building" and thus didn't want to offend their conservative consituency and were also blinded by their false belief that Iraq's population would quickly put aside their history of conflict and immediately embrace democracy and possess such democracy's requisite civil order?
Certain Americans are under a delusion that an occupation of Iraq would have worked if only…
These folks do not understand the Middle East, Iraq and it’s post -colonial history. No occupier no matter how the occupation was run would have been acceptable to the Iraqis. Being a colony has never been an option for Sunnis, Shias, Kurds, nationalists, commuists,or the public at large. Violent resistance was and is inevitable under any occupation
The error was the invasion it self.
