How the West Supported Saddam's Chemical Attacks
Thursday, July 12, 2007
When Saddam Hussein killed thousands in a 1988 chemical attack on Kurdistan, America looked the other way. Joost R. Hilterman joins us to explain how that tacit support of the attack has come back to haunt the West. Hilterman's recent book is A Poisonous Affair: America, Iraq, and the Gassing of Halabja.

We have seen a single report from May which states that Iran is contemplating filing suit against the multinational corporations that
supplied material to Iraq's WMD programs. YOu may remember that the corp. names were leaked and disclosed by Die Tageszeitung despite attempts to suppress that portion of IRaq's 12,000 page "Full, Final and Complete" inventory of its WMD programs. (full list:
http://www.casi.org.uk/discuss/2002/msg02338.html and
http://ratical.com/ratville/CAH/USmadeIraq.html includes names such as
HP, Honeywell, Unisys, Alcoa, Bechtel, Dow Chemical . . . )
And,
thank you for the great programs.
