In the 40s and 50s, a former grocer named Laurence Johnson spearheaded an anticommunist blacklist against radio and TV broadcasters in New York. In A Shadow of Red, David Everitt explores Laurence Johnson's life, and his mysterious death in 1962.

    I would like to hear David Everitt's thoughts on Philip Roth's book I Married a Communist, a historical novel with seeks to shine light on the McCarthy era and blacklisting in the media through the rise and fall of protagonist Ira Ringold.
