I read Khouri's book. It's a nice propoganda piece, but not very impressive as literature.
I'd give it a C-.
Shame on you, Mr. Lopate. You just let Elias Khoury get away with the most thinly veiled comparison of "the Israelis" to "their" Nazi oppressors. Please listen to your interview again - you through only softball questions at a man who oozed Palestinean self-pity and voiced not one word of regret let alone condemnation of the record of terrorism and increasingly fanatic violence Palestineans have built for themselves. I write this as a long-time listener with great respect for Mr. Lopate's critical acumen and broad knowledge, and not as one who would want to hear an interview conducted in a hostile or confrontational manner. I just expect tougher thinking from your show.
Sincerely,
Jay M. Ticker
