Reproductive Technology and Changing Ideas of Family

Re: Counseling services before, during and after reproductive services. The clinic that I used (Reproductive Medicine Associates of NJ) has a large complimentary care center run by a Ph.D. Psychologist which offers counseling services, support groups, alternative medicine techniques for relaxation, etc. before, during and after the medical procedures are performed. I think more clinics are recognizing the importance of this aspect of using "non-traditional" reproductive techniques. The speaker said that there is no support available to parents. I find that this is changing.

Reproductive tech is definitely changing families. My biggest concern is that the majority of women who use donor eggs lie about it to their kids. How destructive when the children inevitably find out they do not have a genetic link to their parent(s).

I have been blogging about my experience using IVF and donating my remaining embryos at: http://embryodonation.blogspot.com/
