I'm reading this book at the moment.Thank-you Meredith Hall for giving a voice to so many who remain voiceless. This book has touched me so much,my mother had a child out of wedlock when she was twenty-three and gave her up for adoption. This was over fifty years ago in a very small country town in Australia. This experience haunted her and our family. Her daughter found her but it wasn't the fairytale ending....so much grief and pain.
What happens to young girls, why do they lose their voice? I think it still happens today, they may not become pregnant but they often take a step back and learn to stay in the shadows.
