The Hoax, a film directed by Lasse Hallström, is inspired by true events in the life of Clifford Irving, the writer who nearly pulled off one of the most audacious media scams in history. Leonard talks to Alfred Molina, who stars in The Hoax.

    Dear Mr. Lopate:

    I always love your show.

    However, today I was shaving and listening to your interview with the wondeful Alfred Molina and part of your conversation was about a woman who was the mistress of Richard Gere and you said that you were worried that Mr. Molina might also have been the mistress of Mr. Gere. He made a joke about it indicating that there would be another movie about that.(I think that's what he said) You both laughed because I think he was rather surprised by your remark.

    As a gay man, I was very upset/sad that you would make such a comment knowing that many of your listeners are gay. I have many, many friends who listen to you and we talk about your show during the day or when we next meet.

    Again, I was very sad and the more I think about it angry that a man of your intelligent and taste would make such a homophobic remark.
