A Sea of Stories
We'll take a break from current politics and look back at the presidency of George Washington. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Joseph Ellis examines the public versus the private personae of our first president in His Excellency: George Washington. Then, Hal Riney, the adman who created Reagan's "Morning in America" ad campaign, tells what he thinks about this year's crop of political ads. Next, composer Charles Wuorinen and librettist James Fenton discuss their operatic adaptation of Salman Rushdie's children's novel, Haroun and the Sea of Stories. And cartoonists Victoria Roberts and David Sipress tell us about their panel series Conversations with Cartoonist.
