His new book, The Candidate, and his new documentary Brothers in Arms, offer an insider’s view on Kerry and his campaign. Thom Andersen explores different portrayals of Los Angeles in his unusual documentary Los Angeles Plays Itself. And Sarah Dunant talks about her novel, The Birth of Venus, which is set in Florence in the 15th Century.
