Jonathan Lethem discusses his latest novel, Fortress of Solitude. It’s about a friendship between a white kid (Dylan) and a black kid (Mingus) in Brooklyn. Dylan and Mingus live on Dean Street in a neighborhood on the cusp of change.

    In her memoir A Mighty Heart (co-written with Sarah Crichton), Mariane Pearl describes the wrenching month between her husband Daniel Pearl’s kidnapping and news of his death in Karachi, Pakistan in 2002.
