As a African American male (49) who was raised in a home where jazz was played, I grew interested and sudied this beautiful artform and decided to become but did not succeed as a Jazz historian. Point: Miles Davis railed against white music critics writng liner notes about the music He and others created. Most Jazz artists during that error was horrified by the injustices of the oppresion that led to the civil rights movement. Does your guest understand this: what was it like to be a black man, first, Jazz artist second, in America and how this perception of being inferior influenced his work?
