Elizabeth Murray was a vibrant New York painter who helped reshape Modernist abstraction. One of her subway murals sprawls over the walls at the 59th Street and Lexington Avenue station. She was 66. Leonard spoke with her two times, on October 20, 1998, with both Jennifer Bartlett and Dorothea Rockburne, and then on December 6, 1999.
