Budd Schulberg may be best-known for his Oscar-winning screenplay for "On the Waterfront," but he wrote many short stories and novels, collaborated with F. Scott Fitzgerald, helped to arrest Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, and named names to the House Un-American Activities Committee. He died earlier this week at the age of 95. He spoke to Leonard Lopate in January 1990 about his life and career and the re-issue of What Makes Sammy Run?, his controversial novel about the politics and power plays on Hollywood’s back lots.
