Monday, September 24, 2012
Writer Karl Ove Knausgaard was on the Lopate Show recently to discuss his book, "My Struggle." He also told us why he has no more secrets -- and about his love of chocolate ice cream
What have you read or seen over the past year that moved or surprised you?
Film: Haneke’s The White Ribbon
Book: The Hungarian writer Sándor Márai’s diaries (especially his last one, written in the last year of his life)
What are you listening to right now?
Midlake
Bon Iver
What’s the last great book you read?
Czeslaw Milosz’s My Europe. I am reading it right now and he is truly a great writer.
What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?
Well, I have written 3,600 pages about myself and my life, so there are unfortunately no secrets left. But I love soccer, though.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
Something I no longer can afford to eat; something happens to you at 40 – but it’s chocolate ice cream. Everything childish, really.
