Guest Picks: Janet Groth

Friday, July 13, 2012

Janet Groth was on the Lopate Show recently to talk about her 2 decades working at The New Yorker. She also told us that she's fan of popcorn -- as long as it's made her way. Find out what else she's a fan of!

What have you read or seen over the past year (book, play, film, etc...) that moved or surprised you?

Books: Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?, The Glass Castle, Bring Up the Bodies, The Marriage Plot, The Art of Fielding, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, Lost Memory of Skin

Films: The Amazing Spider-Man, To Rome With Love

What are you listening to right now?

Leonard Lopate, of course! Also Jonathan Schwartz and WQXR every morning

What’s the last great book you read?

Probably Hilary Mantel’s sequel to Wolf Hall but all those listed above were superior

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

I love to exercise to tapes of Fats Waller’s Handful of Keys

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Popcorn, dry popped and Pam sprayed and salted (except for the salt, it lessens the guilt)
