Gary Carter with Leonard Lopate (2008)
Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter died February 16, at the age of 57. Known for his enthusiasm for the game and the number of exuberant hugs he gave to his teammates, Carter played for the Expos and joined the Mets in 1985. He was seen as a pivotal player in the Mets winning the 1986 World Series. Carter was on the Lopate Show in April 2008 to talk about his 19-year career in the major leagues.
