Guest Picks: Alexandra Styron

Tuesday, September 06, 2011

Alexandra Styron stopped by The Leonard Lopate Show to talk about some of her favorite movies, music, and more.

What have you read or seen over the past year (book, play, film, etc…) that moved or surprised you?

The first 15 minutes of Up, which I took my children to see, completely undid me. I also quite enjoyed Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese.

What are you listening to right now?

Mumford and Sons’ new album and the new Decemberists.

What’s the last great book you read?

Experience by Martin Amis.

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

I have an embarrassing appetite for reality shows like “Hoarders” and “The Smallest Person in the World.” I’m fascinated by images of the

extreme.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Chocolate pudding.
