Playwright Rick Elise tells us about some of his favorite books and movies after a recent appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show.

What have you read or seen lately (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you?

Biographies of George Mallory, Aaron Sorkin’s “Social Network.”

What are you listening to right now?

The voices in my head.

What’s the last great book you read?

Wolf Hall – The only thing better than history is historical fiction. Just ask half the members of Congress.

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

The DIY channel on cable TV. As I’m incapable of identifying hammer from nail, this channel’s programs excite me in an almost unhealthy way.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

As a born and bred New Yorker, all food is comfort food, as well as the occasional napkin, crow and humble pie.
