Monday, October 04, 2010

Find out some of Melissa Clark's favorite picks after appearing on The Leonard Lopate Show.

What have you read or seen lately (book, film, play etc . . .) that moved or surprised you?

Patti Smith’s Just Kids. Heard her talking – I think on this show – then got her book. So moving to learn about her friendship with Mapplethorpe.

What are you listening to right now?

I’m in a Jeff Buckley phase. That and They Might Be Giants (my toddler loves the album “No.”)

What’s the last great book you read?

I’m reading Robert Musil’s The Man Without Qualities. I’ve been reading it on and off for 2 years. It’s 1700 pages long, but I’m closing in on page 1300!

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

Opera, baroque and other.

If you only had one day left, how would you spend it in New York City?

Russ + Daughters for bagels and lox, then I’d cab it up to the Cloisters
