Leonard's Questions: Jane Monheit

What is Jane Monheit's favorite book? She tells us her favorites after a recent appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show.
What have you read or seen lately (book, film, play etc . . .) that moved or surprised you?
Well, as the mother of a two year old, I don’t see or read many things for adults! I have found so many incredibly moving books for little ones, though…my current favorite is Someday by Allison McGhee.
What are you listening to right now?
I’ve been reliving old favorites as I play them for my son. Ella’s Duke Ellington songbook gets a lot of play at our house!
What’s the last great book you read?
The Year Of The Flood by Margaret Atwood. She’s one of my all-time favorite authors, and this book continued the story of a book I particularly loved, “Oryx and Crake.” Frighteningly futuristic fantasy at its best.
What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?
Lady Gaga!! Love her!
If you only had one day left, how would you spend it in New York City?
Walking. Just walking everywhere. With Bill Evans in my headphones.
