Michael Lewis talks about his interviews with President Obama, who he spoke with multiple times over six months—on Air Force One, in the Oval Office, and on the basketball court. Lewis’s article “Obama’s Way,” in the October issue of Vanity Fair, covers the president’s views of his life in the White House, the high price that comes with the job of being the president, his responsibilities, and his relationship with the news media.

Wayne,
So succinct, so correct.
I really resent being treated like an idiot. But then again ... if I live among "Hope, unity, change" crowd, I probably deserve this treatment.
The quote approval is bad enough, the article was a reverential puff piece by a highly overrated journalist.
Vinny,
Are you saying that we won't hear again "journalists" equating Ayatollah of Hezbollah (and apparently his masters in Iran) with MLK, as Celeste notoriously did. Or just on this program?
Ron from NYC,
Yeah, life is simple. Only in the eyes of trained zombies. I happen to be a Social Democrat (the only one in this country?) who, yes, despises "my precious body, my precious bank accounts/mansions" hypocritical "liberals."
@Ron from NYC
No PAC here. Just giving Lopate the chance that he has earned. Sometimes his show is exemplar of the best radio has to offer. On the other extreme, like today's shameless "journalistic" political trash, it is terribly painful to listen to. So, we post with the hopes that he might listen to us half as seriously as we listen to him.
I am glad to see.. how many non-liberals listen to "liberal bias" and take the time to post the comments.. or is it a PAC funded Romney hack machine..
The fact that this guy is appearing on two different shows (Leonard Lopate & Fresh Air) on the same day to espouse his clearly biased opinion of Obama does nothing to quell accusations about public radio's Liberal media bias.
Just for the record, the earlier Ed wasn't me.
Ed, to make yourself feel better, keep your radio tuned and listen to The Takeaway, and when you hear Ron Christie's voice, turn the volume to 11.
"This program does a great job of fulfilling NPR's mission of informing the public that Obama is a wonderful person."
Yes, Ed.
I am sick an tired.
I am sick and tired of prostitutes on cover and inside of Vanity Fair and the like giving me, other citizens of the country our ruler and to the rest of the world its "leader."
This was despicable. When Anna Wintour praises Assad, people are murdered. When Skarlett Johansson "embraces" the son of sultan of Brunei, people are murdered. When our "journalist" plays with Obama, the world disintegrates.
Then all this indecent, evil "zoo" comes to me and orders to vote for Obama. How dare they, illiterate, dishonest, stupid dictate me and other who our president should be? Id' rather die than vote the way they order.
It's time to return to normalcy by treating prostitutes the way they deserve.

To Hugh Sansom - its not uncommon, in facts its very common. Get over it.
So will Michael Lewis give foreign leaders quote approval?
That Michael Lewis can assert so categorically that "everybody" thinks the Obama campaign in Libya was a success indicates how narrow and blinkered is the vision of American 'journalists. This is certainly not the consensus outside the US (which isn't to say that there is no one who considers the Libya campaign a success). It is not even the consensus within the US, for reasons that today should be only too clear. But American journalists spend most of their time chasing the tails of American powerbrokers, as Lewis has with Obama, or patting themselves and fellow mainstream journalists on their backs.
This is embarrassingly obsequious on so many levels.
What does Lewis have to say about this giving Obama veto/editorial power over quotations? How does that fit with Lewis's claims to being a journalist?
Yes, Dan and Robert, we miscounted. Thanks for the catch -- and our apologies for the error.
This is inherently interesting, but this being Michael Lewis, any meat on the American debt crisis?
Lenny, you had a guest videographer on a few weeks ago that followed Obama around... how many people follow him at one time?
Only 3 presidents still alive? Who died and how recently, Careter? GHW Bush? Clinton? GW Bush? That's four or has one of these died within the past 24 hours?!
I think Leonard meant "four" people alive know what it's like to be president...
Please ask him about having to get quote approval for the story, making it of highly questionable value as anything but a PR piece for the upcoming election.
