If I'm supposed to walk around in his shoes, I imagine my feet would hurt - at least if Mrs. O was speaking the truth when she said that Barry liked to wear shoes too small for his size. But whose fault is that? Don't tell me that he doesn't buy his own shoes.
Clinton is not running for anything therefore he had nothing to 'lose' and could be 'looser'. If Obama had delivered the very same speech in the same manner as Clinton, he would have been labelled as 'defensive'. Obama has to present himself as Presidential - any misstep would be hyper-criticized by FoxNews, SuperPACs etc. All of the 'disappointeds' should take one day out of the next 60 to actually consider how it feels to walk in Obama's shoes. First minority President in a country that has no real history of fair treatement or love for its minorities working with a Congress that appears to have no willingness to compromise empowered by an electorate that accepts representation that breaks their oaths of office and values his ruin - and the country's failure - over progress for the American people.
IF the European economy softens and pushes us into a double-dip recession and Congress doesn't grow up, whose fault will it be for not acting to get our own people back to work with something like alacrity?
It seems from the recent stories that the mission to "kill" (the pretext of "capture" has been dropped) bin Laden was much more successful than any effort to "bailout" the fortunes of "General Motors". The GM stock price is comparable to Facebook's in the value lost since its November 2010 government "IPO" and it has recently lost its #1 spot to Toyota as the later has recovered from the natural disasters it recently suffered. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-07-31/classified/sc-biz-0731-autos-gm-marketing-20120731_1_karl-friedrich-stracke-cadillac-ats-opel
In addition GM's marquee "green" technology, the VOLT, is going to have another pause in production (although we are assured that this has nothing to do with anemic "sales/ profit" performance. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2012/08/gm-suspends-chevy-volt-production-over-slow-sales/1#.UEld2pbtCg2
Let's hope that the as yet to be marketed "Impala" avoids the marketing errors that befell the "Dart" http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/2012/08/29/too-many-stick-shifts-hurt-dodge-dart-sales/
(Might be a story "Brian Lehrer" producers would want to prepare their spin for. ;-) )
Great show, Leonard! Quick question: Pres. Obama mentioned Steve Jobs in his speech last night. And that got me thinking about the late Mr. Job's presentation style - his use big screens, graphics, etc. to present facts. Is there some reason why Obama can't/won't do this too? Would make his speeches more interesting, I think.
i stand Left - very left - and his speech last night was such a let down. very predicable and nowhere where it needed to be - Bill Clinton's speech. Clinton was Spotless!
