Taher: That is not the solution. Having lived and worked in Mexico for a year I can tell you that Mexico is made up of a strong and rich culture that is based on community and family and that Mexico has a lot of potential -the problem is the corruption and the lawlessness and abuse that comes out of that corruption. The reason the cartels have taken over the country and why there is so much violence is because of the corruption that allowed it and because people feel that the only way to move ahead is to operate like the cleptocracy that has ruled Mexico for almost a 100 years now.
If we want to help we should just nationalize all the bank accounts and condos that Wealthy mexicans own in this country and Europe.. Only then will the oligrachy make an effort to build a representative, responsible democracy

Unfortunately the solution to Mexico lies in authoritarian rule. Massive economic development on one end and summery executions of any one connect or suspected of connection or working for the drug gangs.

Can you ask your guest about the direct involvement of the Mexican oligarchy (who usually lead the political parties) in the violence against journalists. In the 90's under the PRI's Salinas de Gortari, the gov't was basically a government version of the Sopranos and there were a large number of political murders related to drugs which led to the murder of any local or federal investigator who tried to investigate any of these murders. .
Is the US government looking at the source of wealth of the Mexican oligrachy / politicians who have most of their wealth in the U.S in banks and real estate.
if the US does not put pressure to the oligarchy/politicians where it hurts (their wallets), the murder of politicians will continue.
